Rachael and Mike: A whimsical autumnal Wanaka wedding

Rachael and Mike tied the knot at Rippon, set to the stunning backdrop of Wanaka Lake and it's mountains. A scene that we're to call home here in Wanaka. It's no surprise they chose such a stunning venue to celebrate their big day at and we were delighted to bring their orange bloom vision to life for such a beautiful wedding.

Rachael's whimsical flowers evoked memories of warm autumnal days sprinkled with a modern touch. She decided to go for a multiple variety bouquet for herself, which was complimented by her bridesmaid's single variety posies made up of the flowers she had in her own bouquet.

We asked Rachael why she chose to get married in Wanaka; "We decided to get married in Central Otago, because Wanaka is our favourite place in NZ. I spent a significant amount in time in Central Otago as a child because my grandparents had a house in Clyde, and when Mike and I started dating his mum was living there which meant we then spent a considerable amount of time there as a couple." she tells us.

"We didn't really think about getting married anywhere else, it was always going to be Wanaka. Rippon as a venue was number one choice, you cannot beat that view and it has such a great indoor/outdoor vibe and felt epic."

When we asked Rachael about her favourite details ad vendors of the day, she told us that she "LOVED my wedding dress. I got it from Paperswan and I have never felt so beautiful.
"The espresso martinis were also a highlight, we wanted to do something different to just having bubbles after the ceremony. We had incredible vendors, including Eve Make-up Artistry, Beautiful Bridal Hair, Susannah Blatchford Photography, Zac from Flatroc Films, Rippon (Georgia), White Rabbit Cakes, Freefall (Band) The Green Room Flower Company (that's us!) and BLAK bridesmaid dresses."
"But mostly, the best part was just being able to hang out with all of our favourite people. It is so rare to be able to have all of those people together in one spot and so we tried to make the most of it and soak it all up. I wore my grandmother's wedding ring who had passed away, her and my granddad were married for 54 years, so that was very special. The bridesmaid wore dark green, which is my favourite colour, and I, of course cannot go past my orange shoes that matched the florals. It was all so beautiful and if we could do it all over again, we 100% would. The speeches were all 10/10, they were the right balance of funny and kind and we felt really honoured by the people who spoke and what they said. "

We understand that your wedding is often about so much more than just getting married, it's about bringing your loved ones together to celebrate the day as a family. This is why we love working alongside the couple to create the perfect flowers that will compliment a day of love.
